More than 90 years have passed since it was established as a botanical garden, and it has formed a green space of tall trees, which is rare in Morioka City. In particular, the ``Yamabe no Matsu'' and ``Metoki Cedar and Hiba'' date back to the time when it was the residence of the chief retainer of the Nanbu domain. Among the many plant species, trees of foreign origin account for a high proportion, with over 800 planted and native species in 137 families and 530 genera growing over an area of ​​approximately 49,500 square meters. Water lilies can be seen at Kitamizu Pond in late June.
