In 1998 and 1999, 10,000 Oyama cherry trees were planted on an area of about 37 hectares in an effort to create the best cherry blossom viewing spot in Japan. There are also about 120 someiyoshino cherry trees and weeping cherry trees, and from the observatory, visitors can enjoy a panoramic view of the majestic Mt.
