Yabukawa Soba Restaurant

``Yabukawa Soba'' is grown in a vast soba field in Yabukawa, Morioka City, which is said to be the coldest place in Honshu. In October, you can enjoy fresh soba noodles, and in the winter, the area is crowded with anglers who come to Lake Iwado to fish for smelt.

Sakurayama Shrine

It was founded in 1749. The shrine building is located on the site of the Sannomaru ruins of Morioka Castle, and was worshiped as the guardian deity of the Nanbu domain. In 1926, a sword made by Kuninaga in the early Nanbokucho period was donated to Sakurayama Shrine by Nanbu Rijun, and is designated as an important cultural property of the country. The annual festival is held from May 25th to 27th, and includes a parade of warriors and offerings of traditional performing arts.

Kizuya main store

A wealthy merchant family during the feudal period. Located in Somon, the gateway to the castle town of Morioka, it retains its original appearance and has a quaint earthen storehouse structure with fire prevention in mind. It was designated as a cultural property by Iwate Prefecture in 1981.
