About 20 minutes by car from Morioka and 15 minutes on the IGR Iwate Galaxy Railway, Takizawa Village is nestled in Mt. Iwate, also known as “Southern Katafuji,” and we would like to introduce you to this village full of nature.

About a 30 minute walk from IGR Takizawa Station, adjacent to the prefectural university, Mt. Kurakake, located at the foot of Mt. Iwate, is a forest park where animals such as wild birds and squirrels can play in the natural forest, and is a hiking course that children can easily enjoy in all seasons. Many hikers visit from time to time. Koiwai Farm Makibaen is also very close to Mt. Kurakake. Also, Mt. Iwate, the highest peak in the prefecture, and the most representative trail starts from the Umagaeshi trailhead. After a day of play, you can relax in the village-run Ainosawa Onsen “Oyama Yu” and take a rest in your room, where you can also see Mt. Iwate.

From Morioka Station, go through the west exit passageway to Marios, and the office of the Iwate Prefecture Tourism Association is located inside the “Iwate Tourism and Economic Exchange Center.” The large floor is filled with information about Iwate, including pamphlets about each municipality and facility in the prefecture, event announcements, and product displays, which customers are free to take home with them.

In addition, our association not only provides tourism consultations to our customers through counters and telephones, but also works with supporting members (prefectures, municipalities, municipal tourism associations, and tourism-related organizations) to disseminate information through the Iwate Travel website, attract tourists, and provide education. We carry out a variety of projects, including information sessions to attract tourists and events to welcome international charter flights.
