    It is known as the first "community center" in Japan.
     It was built and donated in November 1941. The donor was Shoriki Matsutaro, then president of the Yomiuri Shimbun, who was a close friend of Goto Shinpei, and it was presented to him on the 13th anniversary of his death as a token of gratitude for his old debt to him.
     It was later used as the Mizusawa City Community Center, and in October 2001 became the "Mizusawa City Hakaru Goto Memorial Community Center.
