Roadside Station “Kuji” Yamase Dofukan

Yamase Dofukan is divided into two parts: ``Tsuchi no Yakata'', which is a product center, and ``Kaze no Yakata'', which is a tourist exchange center. The local product store ``Tsuchi no Yakata'' sells Kuji Kohaku and locally harvested seasonal vegetables, and there is also a local product store, making it the perfect place to pick up souvenirs. In addition, the tourist exchange center ``Kaze no Yakata'' displays floats and portable shrines that are actually used in the Kuji Autumn Festival. The actual festival is shown on a video monitor, and local materials are also on display to convey the charm of Kuji. There are also restaurants that are popular for their rice bowls topped with plenty of local seafood. In front of you is Retro Plaza, which is lined with restaurants and miscellaneous goods stores.

The nostalgic lifestyle of the 1950s is on display on the second floor of Kuji's new tourist spot ``Yamase Dofukan''. We provide a place to experience the lifestyle and culture of the early postwar period, and have collected valuable toys from that time.

Hiraniwa Kogen

Located at an altitude of 800m, halfway up Mt. Hiraniwa, the vast Hiraniwa Kogen is a scenic area designated as a prefectural natural park. It is a field where you can enjoy nature all year round, starting with wetland plants such as the herald of spring, the Japanese katakuri, to the dazzling green white birch forest in early summer, the astragalus azaleas in full bloom all over the plateau, the autumn leaves, and skiing in winter as the season progresses.
