Takashi Hara

Born in Morioka City. A politician who created the basis of party politics. He entered the Ministry of Foreign Affairs under the care of Kaoru Inoue, became Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs at the age of 40, and became Minister to Korea at the age of 42. He later founded the Rikken Seiyukai with Hirobumi Ito and others, and became the president of the Seiyukai in 1919. In 1919, he became the 19th Prime Minister. He was Japan's first prime minister without a title, and as a result, the clan government since the Meiji era was transformed into party politics, and Hara was called ``commoner prime minister.'' On November 4, 1920, he was killed by a young man's knife at Tokyo Station.

Kyosuke Kindaichi

A linguist from Morioka City and a leading expert on Ainu research. Graduated from the Department of Linguistics at the University of Tokyo, and won the Academy Award in 1933 for ``Research on the Ainu Epic Yukara.'' He became a professor at the University of Tokyo and Kokugakuin University, and was also a member of the Japan Academy and the Japanese Language Council. In 1951, he received the Order of Culture. He had been friends with the poet Takuboku Ishikawa since their days at Morioka Junior High School, and it is said that he often took care of him.

A monument to Takuboku's poems in the schoolyard of Takuboku's alma mater, Morioka High School (currently Shimohashi Junior High School). Kyosuke Kindaichi, who was Takuboku's second-year senior and had a close friendship with him from his childhood until his later years, wrote Takuboku's song in later years, and it was erected in the fall of 1972 by former staff volunteers. “Once upon a time, I threw a ball on the roof of an elementary school, and how it turned out.”
