Oni’s mansion

This is a themed museum that was established as a place to collect, research, and learn about various things related to demons. In Iwasaki, the birthplace of Oni Kenbu, we collect and display materials related to Oni, such as biographies, picture scrolls, and masks that have been passed down throughout Japan since ancient times. It brings to light the multifaceted existence of demons who have lived in the darkness, and asks us once again what demons are.

Kitakami Peace Memorial Exhibition Hall

The Kitakami Peace Memorial Exhibition Hall, which opened in 2002, displays military mail sent to Minejiro Takahashi, who was a long-time teacher in the Fujine district of Kitakami City, from a student of a soldier from a rural village, as well as wartime materials, guns, and clothing. I am. We hope to accurately convey to future generations the tragic war experiences of young soldiers from rural villages who served in the Sino-Japanese War and the Pacific War, and pray for lasting peace in the world.

Kitakami City Museum (main building)

Reopened in September 2016. In addition to introducing the charm of Kunimiyama Abandoned Temple, which was a center of Buddhist culture prior to Hiraizumi, it also provides detailed explanations of six historical themes that are essential when talking about Kitakami.
