In front of the Morioka District Court, Edohigan cherry blossoms are growing out of a huge granite rock with a circumference of 21 meters. This cherry tree, which has a root circumference of 4.3 meters and a height of 10 meters and is said to be over 360 years old, blooms beautifully from mid-April every year. The cherry blossoms are beautiful during the day when the spring sun shines through them, but the cherry blossoms at night are also very atmospheric. Morioka City Toyama Forest Park

At Toyama Forest Park, located in the middle of nature, 40 minutes by car from Morioka city, you can enjoy nature experiences such as camping, barbecues, wooden athletics, and mushroom picking experiences (only during mushroom harvesting season). *Morioka City Toyama Forest Park is scheduled to open next year from Monday, April 29, 2020.

Kiyoshi Goko

A businessman from Mizusawa Ward, Oshu City. He became president of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries in 1942, but in the same year he was selected as a cabinet advisor to the Hideki Tojo cabinet, and became chairman the following year. After the war, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries was manufacturing wartime weapons, and Goko, as president at the time, was working hard to increase production, but he was forced to be detained as a suspected war criminal. After being released from prison, he was punished by being expelled from public office, but when the charges were cleared and the punishment was lifted, he returned to the business world. He held various positions in the industry and contributed to the postwar economic recovery.
