Two monuments to Kenji Miyazawa's poems have been erected in Fudai Village.
One of them is the monument "A defeated boy sings" in Matsuso Park, which was erected in 2004 based on the theory that Horiuchi Port was the port where Kenji boarded his motor boat when he traveled to Sanriku in 1925. The inscription was chosen to be "Sanshiro Gyokyaku e no Jealousy" written by Kenji at dawn on the day he boarded the ship, which was adapted into a literary poem, "Defeated Boy's Song".
