The Ozaki Shrine Festival and the Yamajinja Festival (the festival of the guardian shrine of the Kamaishi Steel Works), which have been passed down since ancient times, were combined and became the ``Kamaishi Festival'' in 1962. On Chunichi, the ``Hikifune Festival'' is held, where deities are enshrined by boat from the main shrine of Ozaki Shrine on the Ozaki Peninsula to Satomiya in the city. Several ships parade through Kamaishi Port with big catch flags waving. On the final day, there will be tiger dances, kagura, floats, hand dances, and portable shrines from both shrines will be carried along the city's main streets.
