Ninohe Festival

Ninohe City

Northern Iwate

First Friday to Sunday of September every year

It is a grand festival held by the three shrines of Donko Inari Shrine, Atago Shrine, and Akiba Shrine, and floats that are the pride of the neighborhood association are paraded through the main street with a mikoshi (portable shrine) in the lead, accompanied by chants of ``yoisa'' and ``yoisa.'' At Donko Inari Shrine, there is a hexagonal mikoshi that is said to have been donated by the 34th Lord Toshio Nanbu, and it is said that during the annual festival, dozens of samurai guarded the shrine in front and behind in order to carry it over. Starting in 2025, we will recreate the ``Mutsu climate,'' which is the origin of the festival, and add new excitement to the festival.
