My Recommendations for Local Attractions and Must-See Local Tourism Information

When you think of Kamaishi, you have a strong image of the city of iron and the sea…
My recommended spot is, of course, the Kamaishi Daikannon. Among them, the most recommended is the majestic “ocean location” where the Kannon statue stands on the tip of Kamasaki and can be seen every day. In spring, the sea melts into fresh greenery; in summer, the sea shines under the rays of the sun; in autumn, the sea changes color with the deepening autumn leaves; and in winter, the sea looks dignified in the bitter cold; the sea in any season is sure to soothe you. I think it will be given to you.
We also recommend a comfortable cruise on the sightseeing boat Hamayuri. You can get a close-up view of one of the world’s largest bay entrance breakwaters, built at a total length of 1,960 meters and a water depth of 63 meters. The view of Kannon from the sea is also amazing!

“Kamaishi Daikannon” is a 48.5 meter tall white statue of Kannon overlooking Kamaishi Bay.It was built in 1970 (Showa 45) as a memorial for those who died at sea and for the purpose of world peace. (Gyoran) Kannon”. You can enjoy a wonderful ocean location from the observation deck (120m above sea level) where you can hold the fish. Inside the womb, the 33 Kannon and the Seven Lucky Gods are enshrined. By making a pilgrimage to the shrine, you will receive the instant destruction of seven hardships and the seven blessings of instant birth due to Kannon’s compassion. Also, next door there is a “Buddha stupa” where the remains of Buddha are enshrined.
It is said that the bad relationships of one’s past, present, and future generations will be erased.
