Mizusawa Tourism and Products Center Z Plaza ATERUI

A tourism and product center opened in 2002, the 1,200th anniversary of Aterui's death. Inside the building, you can find a variety of specialties and products, including the traditional craft ``Nanbu Ironware'', direct sales of fresh agricultural and livestock products, information on sightseeing in Mizusawa and other areas, and a restaurant.

Bashokan (serve-style wanko soba)

Bashokan's Wanko Soba is served in a platter style. Also known as Hiraizumi Wanko Soba, bowls filled with bite-sized soba noodles are brought to the table. Transfer the soba noodles to your own bowl, add your favorite seasonings, and enjoy in one bite. Hidehira-lacquered trays and bowls are used.

Roadside station “Mizusawa”

Located at the foot of a bridge over the Kitakami River, this roadside station has a lawn and waterside plaza on the adjacent riverbed, making it perfect for walks, barbecues, and picnics. There is also a restaurant overlooking the river, a product store, and direct-from-the-farm products, and the rich ``sesame soft-serve ice cream'' made with local raw milk is popular in the special products corner. Other popular dishes include soba hatto and koji nanban.
