Morioka City Children’s Science Museum

It was built in 1981 to help children deepen their knowledge and understanding of science while having fun. In addition to various exhibition rooms, laboratories, and workshops, there is also an 18m dome planetarium. Events such as night museums, science shows, and workshops are also held.

Southern kakke (soba kake)

``Nanbu Kakke'' is a local dish that has been passed down from ancient times in the village of Kunohe in the southern part of Iwate, a soba restaurant. It is said that it originates from the scraps left when making soba noodles, and it is said to have been passed down to this day in a food culture that cherished the scraps of soba noodles.

Galaxy Poppo (Karakuri Clock)

A mechanical clock with the motif of Kenji Miyazawa's fairy tale "Night on the Galactic Railway." It is located at the north entrance of ``Nahan Plaza'' in front of Hanamaki Station, and when the long hand points to 12 o'clock, characters from fairy tales appear along with the opening melody, an arrangement of ``Hoshimeguri no Uta'' (composed by Kenji Miyazawa).
