Matsukawa Geothermal Power Plant was the first in Japan to successfully generate geothermal power in October 1966, and has been in commercial power generation ever since. At the nearby geothermal dyeing laboratory, you can experience tie-dying, which uses geothermal steam to create a richly natural-looking tie-dye.
