Rikuzentakata City Museum

The Rikuzentakata City Museum, which opened in 1955 as the first publicly registered museum in the Tohoku region, was completely destroyed in the Great East Japan Earthquake, and valuable materials were also devastated. Afterwards, with the cooperation of specialized organizations and local people from all over the country, many of the materials affected by the disaster were rescued and regenerated, and a new facility was established with the functions of the "Sea and Shellfish Museum," which also suffered devastating damage. It opened in November 2014. This is a comprehensive museum that conveys the nature, history, and culture of Rikuzentakata to the future along with the memories of the earthquake.

Kesengawa

Originating from Mt. Goyo, the upstream area is home to sweetfish and yamame trout, while the downstream area is home to many dace and gobies. In spring, you can eat live whitefish, sweetfish fishing opens in July, and salmon fishing begins in October. Mountain streams and rough waters are suitable for the growth of sweetfish, and the best fishing methods are the Kesen River's unique korogashi, blackfish, and tomo fishing, with the peak season being from August to September. Jagasaki

A cliff-top cape at the eastern base of the Hirota Peninsula. It is a sea cliff formed by five layers of hard sandstone and shale rock that have been eroded by the sea. On the west side there is a cave called "Demonose Cave", and on the side of the narrow channel between Tsurushima and Kameshima there are two blowing holes, the sound of which blows up the water column is loud, and it also serves as a good beacon for fishing boats in heavy fog.
