Kurosaki Senkei

A typical view of the Rias coast unfolds. Part of the cliff has caved in, creating a narrow channel between the steep cliffs, which is being eroded by the waves of the Pacific Ocean. Waves change the topography over many years. You can catch a glimpse of nature's creation. The nearby garden is a hidden spot for camellias.

Hojumatsu of Kezoji Temple

This is a 20m tall Japanese black pine located within the grounds of Kezoji Temple, and its flowering habits are opposite to those of other trees. Ordinary pine trees have one or two female flowers at the tips of new branches, and the male flowers gather below, but in this pine, the female flowers gather in the center of the branches, and the male flowers appear above and below them. Therefore, it is called ``Hojumatsu'' because dozens of pine cones gather together and look like ``Hojumatsu''. Nationally designated natural monument (designated in 1933)

Takada Matsubara and the miraculous single pine tree

It is a bow-shaped sandy beach that stretches from the mouth of the Kesen River to Hirota Bay, and was once one of the most representative beaches on the Rikuchu coast, but it was severely damaged by the Great East Japan Earthquake. A forest of tens of thousands of red pine and black pine trees over 300 years old had been planted over a 2km stretch, but they were washed away without a trace. The single pine tree that miraculously survived has become a symbol of reconstruction, and has been preserved as a monument for future generations.
