Saito Makoto Memorial Museum

Memorial hall for Saito Minoru (1858-1936), who was killed by a bullet during the February 26 Incident. A memorial hall built on the site of Saito Minoru's former residence. The old house has also been preserved and a glimpse of what life was like back then is open to the public. Inside the museum, medals and formal accessories showing the accomplishments of Minoru are on display. In particular, a cracked mirror that was hit by a bullet during the February 26 Incident vividly tells the story of the turbulent times.

Tateyama Historical Park (Iwayado Castle Honmaru Ruins)

This is the site of the castle of a powerful family that ruled this area from ancient times. It is said to have been the site of a fortress built by Fujiwara no Tsuneakiyo and his son Kiyohira in the late Heian period. An octagonal hall building and Niseiin Temple (where Buddhist statues are preserved) were erected to commemorate the great deeds of the father and son, Tsuneakiyo and Kiyohira. Visitors can enjoy the seasonal scenery of cherry blossoms, hydrangeas, and maple trees. Niseiin Temple is usually closed. It is opened twice a year (May and August).

Komagata Shrine

In 1903, the shrine on the top of Mt. Komagatake was moved to its present location. It is a quiet shrine surrounded by old cherry and cedar trees. Together with the cherry trees in Mizusawa Park, it is designated as a natural monument of the prefecture as a group of higan cherry trees. 　A children's cavalry parade is held as an annual spring festival.
