Hidaka Shrine

It is said to have been founded in the first year of Konin (710) in the early Heian period, and rebuilt in the first year of Shocho (1428). On the grounds is the Tachiarai River Monument, where Yawata Taro Yoshiie is said to have washed the sword with which he killed Abe Sadato. The main shrine is designated as a national important cultural property. It is also known as the shrine for the Hidaka Fire Prevention Festival.

Cherry blossom corridor (lined with cherry blossom trees along National Route 397)

National Route 397 is lined with cherry blossom trees for approximately 7km, and is known both inside and outside the city as the ``Cherry Blossom Corridor.'' The ``Mizunosato Sakura Festival'' is held during the blooming period in April every year, and part of the row of cherry blossom trees is illuminated, attracting many tourists. Azalea of ​​Mount Kyozuka

Kyozukayama is said to have been Fujiwara Hidehira's sutra store in the old days, and at the top of the mountain there is a ``horseshoe stone'' where Minamoto Yoshitsune is said to have ridden his horse and made hoof prints. In addition, the view from the summit towards Hiraizumi and Maezawa is wonderful, with the Isawa alluvial fan spreading out from the Ou Mountains, the Shizui villages and countryside dotted there, and the Kitakami River that meanders slowly across the area. It is a famous place for azaleas that grow in clusters, and the best time to see them is late May.
