Mt. Komatashira (940m above sea level) is said to be the motif of "Nametokoyama Bear". The mountain climbing courses are the Samuzawagawa Course, which climbs from the Ota Yamaguchi area via a forest road along Samazawa, and the Namazawa Onsen Course, which starts at the Namazawa Onsen Ski Resort. There are also three Dewazawa courses that start from the end of the Dewazawa Forest Road. Whichever course you take, you can enjoy a quiet mountain journey that takes you to the original scenery of the fairy tale ``Nametoko Mountain Bear'' written by Kenji Miyazawa. Additionally, there is an outdoor activity center for learning about nature and outdoor experiences on the shores of the Toyosawa Dam lake at the foot of the mountain, and hot spring inns such as Namida Onsen and Shinmina Onsen along the Toyosawa River.

Enmanji Kannon Observatory

It is located where the Enmanji Kannon-do Hall is built, and is a hill from which you can overlook the city. Parking lot and toilets are also available. The road is closed to vehicles during the snowy season.

Hanamaki City Comprehensive Cultural Properties Center

Opened on May 22, 2011, this facility is a hub for protecting cultural assets in Hanamaki City and disseminating information. Valuable materials from the Mountain Museum, which closed on March 31, 2011, have also been transferred and are now on display.

Mishōji Temple

A temple where Kenji Miyazawa's grave is located. The main hall is located near Gindoro Park and is located at the top of a narrow stone staircase. Kenji's funeral was held at Anjo-ji Temple (Otani sect of Jodo Shinshu sect), but it is said that he was later reinterred at Mishō-ji Temple. The tombstone is located at the back of the main hall, and it is said that fresh flowers will never run out. In spring, the weeping cherry blossoms on the grounds are spectacular.
