Matsukawa Valley

Cattail marsh

It is a small swamp with a circumference of 500m located opposite the 1.5km-circumference Hachiman-numa that can be seen from the Hachimantai Summit Observation Deck at an altitude of 1,613m. The water in the marsh has a beautiful blue color due to the presence of a substance called sulfur colloid.

Appi Highland Nakano Ranch

A grassland area with a gap in the middle of a primeval forest of beech and mountain birch. It is surrounded by abundant nature and is the perfect location for picnics. Nakano Farm is covered in natural grass, and in early summer the area is filled with red azaleas (flowering period: early to late June).

Fudo Falls

The famous three-tiered waterfall, Fudo Falls, is counted as one of Japan's top 100 waterfalls, and has also been certified as one of Iwate's 20 best waters. The sight of the 15m high waterfall cascading vertically, shaking the quiet air around it, is a sight to behold. This Fudo Falls is said to have been a dojo for ascetics, and the quiet area of ​​the forest still has that atmosphere, and a stone carving of Fudo Myoo is enshrined in the middle of the waterfall.
