Fujisato petrified wood

A petrified redwood tree located near Atago Shrine in Atagoyama Natural Park. It is 12 million years old and blows out of the Inase Volcanic Formation, a sandy pseudoash mixed with andesite rocks. That part alone has a diameter of 1.3 meters and a height of 4 meters, making it the second largest tree in the prefecture after the petrified tree of Nebaru. Take the Esashi Municipal Bus Ide-Kojitani-Kuchizawa Line (via Kami-Ide) to Fujisato bus stop, get off at the JR Tohoku Shinkansen Mizusawa-Esashi Station, take the Iwate Prefectural Transportation Esashi Bus bound for Fujiwara no Sato, get off at the Esashi Bus Center bus stop, and transfer.

Nationally designated historic site Nagahide Takano’s former residence

The former home where Nagahide Takano, a visionary of the end of the Edo period, lived as a child still remains. It was renovated in 1891 and is still the residence of the Takano family, but the two downstairs rooms, 8 tatami and 6 tatami, which were Nagahide's living quarters, remain as they were when Nagahide lived there. .

Yaishishidake

The Yakeishi Mountain Range occupies the northern corner of Kurikoma Quasi-National Park and has 13 mountains over 1,000m. Mt. Yaishishi, at an altitude of 1,548m, is the leader of this mountain range. It has the most remaining snow in the prefecture, and wetlands and ponds have developed everywhere. It is said that more than 300 species of alpine plants grow here, and the vegetation is diverse. Climbing courses include the Nakanuma course and the Tsubunuma course, as well as a traverse course that starts at Natsuyu Onsen and goes via Mt. Kyozuka to Mt. Yaishi.
