Kinugawa Furusato Nature School

If you spend time doing various things in nature, you may discover something new. Furusato Shizenjuku is a place where everyone can make such discoveries and think about how to live a truly rich life. In addition to a campground with bungalows and cottages, there is also a hands-on learning center where you can try your hand at processing agricultural products, making soba noodles, and woodworking such as bamboo crafts and crafts.

Komagata Shrine

In 1903, the shrine on the top of Mt. Komagatake was moved to its present location. It is a quiet shrine surrounded by old cherry and cedar trees. Together with the cherry trees in Mizusawa Park, it is designated as a natural monument of the prefecture as a group of higan cherry trees. 　A children's cavalry parade is held as an annual spring festival.

Kimura Sakae Memorial Museum

Memorial Hall for Sakae Kimura (1870-1943), the astronomer who discovered the Z term. To honor the achievements of Dr. Sakae Kimura, the first director of the Latitude Observatory, who discovered the observational unknown "Z term" in 1892 and is world-renowned, the observatory was preserved in its original state when it was opened (in 1897) and turned into a memorial hall. From Mizusawa Esashi Station, transfer to the "Iwate Kotsu Haneda Ofunato Line Mizusawa Station Dori Bus Stop" and go to the Observatory Mae Bus Stop.
