In the first year of Engi, the wife of Michizane Sugawara, known as the god of learning, was exiled to Isawa District, where she passed away in September of the same year at the age of 42. Currently, one stone monument and two five-ring pagodas remain as his grave in Tagawazu, Higashiyama Town.

Honedera Village Manor Ruins

Not only do temples and shrines still exist exactly as depicted in the Nationally Designated Important Cultural Property, Mutsu Kokukotsuji Village Picture Map, but the surrounding environment and landscape are extremely well-preserved, making it a great place to stand on the spot and experience the world depicted in the map. As a very rare ruin that can be known, it was designated as a national historic site in March 2005, and in July 2006, it was selected as the second important cultural landscape in the country.

Sansaikan Fujisei

Iwate's southern region boasts a wide variety of mochi dishes. Since its opening in 1991, the restaurant has been offering the specialty "Hitokuchimochi Zen," a bite-sized version of traditional mochi dishes. The freshly pounded taste is very impressive. Located near Ichinoseki Station, this restaurant offers both mochi and Japanese cuisine for both the eyes and the palate.

Okoda Shrine

Endowment year solicitation. It has been deeply worshiped by the local people as ``Omyoken-sama'' since ancient times, and it is said that Minamoto no Yoriyoshi dedicated the ``Dowaniguchi'', the oldest inscribed Waniguchi in this prefecture, and the one worn by Sadato Abe. It houses cultural properties designated by the prefecture, such as the ``Golden Bronze Maedate.'' The carvings in the main hall are worth seeing. The Somin Festival is held in early January every year.
