Mt. Eboshi

A 3 hour uphill and 2 hour downhill course with repeated ups and downs from Takinoue Onsen. The name of the mountain comes from its protruding shape like an eboshi. It is located on a ridge that runs from Komagatake to Hachimantai, with a vertical rock wall facing east, offering views in all directions. There are also plenty of alpine plants.

Flower Studio Rara Club

One of the largest flower direct sales shops in Tohoku. We carry a wide variety of homegrown flowers, rare seedlings, planters, baskets, and more. The vast grounds include a ``plant building'' where flower seedlings are sold, an English garden, and a farmhouse restaurant using locally grown vegetables. There is a ``Shiba Sakura Hill'' that turns pink in May, and is visited by many people.

Kakkonda Valley

This valley is located in the upper reaches of the Kakkonda River that flows at the southern foot of Mt. Iwate, and is approximately 10 km long from Genbudo Cave to Takinoue Onsen. There are a variety of broad-leaved trees, including primeval beech forests, and the fresh greenery and autumn leaves are especially beautiful. At the back of the gorge is Torigoe Falls, a stunning 30m waterfall that falls from the rock face into a deep green basin. During the autumn leaves season, it is crowded with many people.
