A single cherry tree at Koiwai Farm

Shizukuishi Town

Central Iwate

Edohigan, with Mt. Iwate in the background, spreading its branches in a leisurely manner. The age of the trees is unknown, but they were planted about 100 years ago when the land was used for pastureland, as shade trees to protect cattle, which do not like the heat, from the strong summer sun. The tree was used as a location for the movie "Mibugishiden" and the TV serial "Dondohare," and has become a popular topic of conversation for its beautiful scenery. Flowering season: Late April to early May
