In the spring of 1930, 2,800 cherry blossom trees were planted in the Karatan area, as a wish for the reconstruction of the former Totan Village, which was severely damaged by the Sanriku Tsunami in 1930, and as a blessing for the birth of the current Emperor in the same year. It was done. The main attraction is the row of cherry blossom trees in Hongo, and during the Amaterasu Miso Shrine Festival held once every three years, a procession of feudal lords parades under the cherry blossoms.
