When you cross Uenohashi from Honmachi Street, you will see a magnificent black stucco storehouse-style house on the left. Built after the Great Morioka Fire of the Meiji era, this is a clay storehouse-style building that was built by skilled craftsmen with a lot of time and effort. The expressive windows and roof give a rich impression, retaining the vestiges of a wealthy kimono wholesaler. The storehouse in the back is the gallery ``Saisono'' and the coffee shop ``Issaryo.'' Yaoji Hashimoto

A painter from Shiwa Town. Graduated from Tokyo Fine Arts University, Department of Western Painting. His 300th masterpiece, ``Change Time'', was exhibited and selected as a special selection at the Teiten Exhibition in 1930, and it continued to be selected as a special selection and recommendation. After the war, he entered politics and served as chairman of the prefectural assembly. After finishing his time as a member of the Diet in 1960, he moved to Europe as a painter and held an exhibition after returning to Japan. In 1975, he founded the Hashimoto Museum of Art in Iwayama, Morioka City, where he exhibited a number of works, including works by himself and friends, works by the Barbizon school, and folk art. (The museum closed in 2001.)

The bridge above was built by Toshinao, the lord of the Nanbu domain, over the Nakatsugawa River at the same time as he built Morioka Castle. Of the bronze imitation jewels decorating the railing, eight have inscriptions dated to 1609 (Keicho 14), and 10 have inscriptions dated to 1611 (1611). It is extremely rare that so many remain, and in 1945 it was designated as a nationally important art object.
