This is a facility where you can get up close and personal with wood to help you understand the importance of the role and function of forests in nature.It is a facility that can be enjoyed by both children and adults through videos, various exhibits, and animations. All of the building's structural and interior materials, as well as furniture such as chairs, are made from local materials such as larch and Japanese red pine. A facility where you can experience the beauty and beauty of wood, with a focus on locally produced wood for local consumption.

Hachimantai City Museum

The Ashiro district of Hachimantai City has played an important role as a transportation hub to Akita and Tsugaru since ancient times, and has developed a unique culture. We will introduce the history and culture of the Ashiro area as well as learn about the activities of our ancestors who lived in the area. There are many interesting materials such as items related to the 15th Great Priest Kojun of Higashieizan Kan'eiji Temple Gokokuin who was from the former Ashiro Town, the ``Tayama Calendar'' which is a rare picture book even in Japan, old agricultural tools, lacquerware, Jomon relics, etc. On display.

One cherry tree in Tamenai

A single cherry tree blooms heavily on a small hill overlooking Mt. Iwate in the distance. When the shrine was relocated, this cherry tree, which was the only one left in the area where the shrine once stood, blooms beautifully every year and is a sight to behold. It is not known when it was planted, but it is thought that it was a sacred tree. It has become widely known as the filming location for the movie "Operetta Tanuki Goten" starring Joe Odagiri, and cherry blossom viewing visitors come from inside and outside the prefecture.
