Homespun Michinoku Akanekai

You can see the homespun process, which is all done by hand, from dyeing to weaving, and a series of panels introduce the manufacturing process. Homespun, which was popularized in Iwate by British missionaries at the beginning of the Meiji period, is a woolen fabric made from dyed wool and woven from hand-spun thread. While mass production is often done by machines, Michinoku Akane-kai is particular about creating original handmade products, in which each warp and weft of spun wool is woven by hand.

Kenji Miyazawa Poetry Monument (Former Prefectural Library Square)

Kenji Miyazawa's poem monument ``Iwate Park'' is located in Morioka Castle Ruins Park (Iwate Park) near the Nakatsugawa River, and depicts the scene of the poem itself: ``The river and banks are green with trees, and the city is quietly twilight.'' It is built inside. This poem, which begins with ``Kanata,'' and Mr. Tapping is old and swings his cane far and wide, is a literary poem written in August 1930, one month before Kenji's death. In addition to his missionary work, Tapping taught English at Morioka Junior High School, and his wife is the founder of Morioka Kindergarten.

Suzuki Shasada

A freedom and civil rights activist from Morioka City. He moved to Tokyo to study at a Christian school, but sympathized with the Freedom and People's Rights Movement led by Taisuke Itagaki and became an activist, and returned home after being recruited by ``Kugasha,'' a central organization in Iwate. He published ``Morioka Shinshi'' and called on people to participate in the freedom and civil rights movement. By merging ``Kyogasha'' and ``Kyodosha,'' it became a political association directly connected to the Liberal Party, and in 1891 it became a permanent member of the Liberal Party, the highest ranking member of the Liberal Party, but in 1881, he suddenly died due to appendicitis before he reached his goal.
