Kenji Miyazawa poem monument (lower bridge)

In 1999, a monument commemorating Kenji Miyazawa's poem ``Chagu Chagu Umako'' was erected near the bridge below where he was lodging with his younger brother when he was in his third year at the High School of Agriculture and Forestry. There are four songs, including the following: ``Even though it's still a little while before dawn, the bottom edge of the river is still open.'' It was around this time that Kenji began to devote himself seriously to literature, and the ten years he spent in Morioka from the age of 13 to the age of 24 (the end of his high school agricultural research studentship) became the foundation for his subsequent activities.

Nagai’s Dainenbutsu sword dance

Nagai's Great Nembutsu Sword Dance, which has been handed down in the Nagai area of Morioka City for about 220 years, is a type of "Kuyoyo Nembutsu," a memorial service for ancestors. It is characterized by the "kasa-haze" dance, in which the dancer wears a large hats with a stupa on the center of a large circular stand on his head and dances with a large swing. In 1980, it was designated as a nationally important intangible folk cultural property. Torakuji Temple wooden eleven-faced Kannon statue

Nine Heian Buddha statues, including the eleven-faced Kannon statue, which were enshrined at the foot of Mt. Himegami, are preserved at Torakuji Temple. It has been designated as an Iwate Prefectural Cultural Property, and is said to be one of the best Buddhist statues in the Tohoku region as an eleven-faced Kannon statue.
