Takuboku Ishikawa

Former Morioka High School of Agriculture and Forestry (Agricultural Education Museum attached to Iwate University Faculty of Agriculture)

Kenji Miyazawa also studied at the former Morioka High School of Agriculture and Forestry, which opened in 1908 as Japan's first high school of agriculture and forestry. It is currently open to the public as an educational museum displaying many materials related to Kenji. There is a botanical garden within the Faculty of Agriculture, which is a popular place for residents to relax. The European-style school building has been designated as a national important cultural property.

Ishikawa Takuboku Memorial Museum

The museum was opened in 1970 to honor Takuboku, collect materials, preserve them, and provide information.The current building was constructed in 1986 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Takuboku's birth. The white Western-style building is a reproduction of the ideal "home" that Takuboku described in his poem "House." Following the footsteps of Takuboku, who started in his hometown of Shibumin and then moved to Morioka, Hokkaido, and Tokyo, many personal belongings and related materials such as Takuboku's handwritten notes, letters, photographs, and clothing are on display. *Photography is prohibited

Sakakiyama Inari Shrine (Morioka Kaiun Shrine)

At the time of the construction of Morioka Castle (Keicho 2), the 26th generation of the Nambu clan, Nobunao, placed the fate of the domain at stake in the Sakakiyama Kuruwa within the castle grounds, and dedicated the Morioka Kaiun Shrine. The divine spirit is a god that was revered by the ancestor, Silla Saburo Yoshimitsu (Seiwa-Genji), and although it was closed down in the Meiji era due to the abolition of feudal domains and establishment of prefectures, it is a prayer shrine that was later rebuilt in Kitayama. There are 14 shrines within the precincts, as well as the scenic garden ``Ryokufuen'' and ``Shinji Pond,'' which date back to the Morioka domain era, making it a majestic sacred area that colors Morioka's four seasons.
