Daumehekazan Endong Shoboji Temple

The temple, commonly known as "Oku no Shoboji," was founded in 1348 by Zen master Museki Ryosho. It used to be the third head temple of the Soto sect along with Eiheiji Temple (Fukui Prefecture) and Sochoji Temple (Yokohama City). Even today, monks from all over Japan gather here to undergo rigorous ascetic training. The temple grounds are solemn, but the atmosphere is one of slow passing time. The stone steps made of serpentine rock and the thatched roof of the Dharma Hall, one of the largest in Japan with an area of approximately 720 tsubo, are breathtaking. The Dharma hall, Kori, and Somon gate are designated as National Important Cultural Properties. Various Zen meditation sessions and vegetarian meals (reservations required) are available, offering a valuable Zen temple experience.

Historical Park Esashi Fujiwara no Sato

奥州藤原氏の軌跡を辿り、みちのくの歴史と文化が体験できる、約20ヘクタールの広大な歴史テーマパーク。 厳密な時代考証に基づき、東北古代の城柵から藤原清衡の居館・豊田館をはじめ奥州藤原氏の政庁、秀衡の居館・伽羅御所、黄金文化の象徴である金色堂などを本格再現しました。大河ドラマをはじめ、数多くのテレビ番組や映画などのロケ地としても知られています。 また、郷土芸能「江刺鹿踊」の定期公演（４月下旬～１１月中旬 毎週日曜日）も行っております。（1日2回公演　11:00、14:00）

Tamasaki Shrine

There is a legend about Yoshitsune's journey northward, which says that Minamoto no Yoshitsune actually escaped without dying in Hiraizumi, and visited this shrine to pray for good luck and safety on his journey, and items related to Yoshitsune are preserved. Reservations are required for the treasure hall.
