You can see the homespun process, which is all done by hand, from dyeing to weaving, and a series of panels introduce the manufacturing process. Homespun, which was popularized in Iwate by British missionaries at the beginning of the Meiji period, is a woolen fabric made from dyed wool and woven from hand-spun thread. While mass production is often done by machines, Michinoku Akane-kai is particular about creating original handmade products, in which each warp and weft of spun wool is woven by hand.

Ishikawa Takuboku Poetry Monument (in front of Morioka Station)

In the plaza in front of Morioka Station, there is a monument with a poem engraved with the words, ``Looking toward the mountains of my hometown, I have nothing to say. I am grateful for the mountains of my hometown.'' The song was composed during his time working at the Tokyo Asahi Shimbun newspaper, and its nostalgic feel is familiar to many people. Additionally, the letters ``Morioka'' posted on the outside wall of the station are a collection of letters written in Takuboku's own handwriting.

Jokoji Temple

Takuboku Ishikawa was born in this temple on February 20, 1898. In the precincts, there is a monument written by Kyosuke Kindaichi, who was Takuboku's lifelong friend, and reads, ``Ishikawa Takuboku Birthplace.'' In addition, a portion of the room where he lived in Takuboku's Houtokuji Temple until he moved there has been restored and preserved.
