Kuji Underground Aquarium Science Museum Mogranpia

"Moglan Pia", which was completely destroyed by the Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami, opened on April 23, 2016. In addition to the exhibition room, the five-story facility has an observation deck overlooking Kuji Bay, farm-to-table facilities, and a disaster prevention learning exhibition room.

Kyuzo Mifune

A judoka from Kuji City. A petite person with a height of 159 cm and a weight of 55 kg, he began judo in junior high school, and after graduating, he moved to Tokyo and enrolled at the Kodokan. In 1930, he won the special match at the first All Japan Judo Championships. He studied under Sakujiro Yokoyama's instructor, 8th dan, and was promoted year by year, reaching the highest rank of 7th dan in 1923 and 10th dan in 1945. He devised many new techniques such as the ``air throw'' and became the prefecture's first Person of Cultural Merit in 1961.

Mifune Judan Memorial Hall

A memorial hall built to honor the achievements of Kyuzo Mifune, a 10th dan judoka known for his divine technique, the air throw. The exhibition room displays Judo Mifune's favorite items and works, such as his judo uniform, brushes, and inkstones, and also introduces valuable footage from the time, such as his ``air throw.'' In addition, the life of Judan Mifune is introduced on the multi-screen, where six slide projectors display impressive images. There are various features designed to honor Mifune 10-dan, including a dynamic drama that you can enjoy.
