Roadside Station “Yamada” Oista

A roadside station that relocated and reopened in July 2023 near the Sanriku Coastal Road Yamada IC. The nickname "Oisuta" is a combination of oysters, a specialty of Yamada Town, and the meaning of "come on." Inside the facility, there is also a tourist information center and a restaurant where you can enjoy local specialties from Yamada Town, oysters and other seafood. In addition, there is a large parking lot and a playground for children on the premises, making it the perfect place to take a break from driving around Sanriku.

[Mitsuyama Onsen] Gakusenso

It is located on a mountain pass just before you can see the ocean as you head towards Yamada on National Route 45 from Miyako. The spring quality is simple cold mineral spring. It contains natural radon and is said to be effective against skin diseases, and many people from nearby cities and towns use it. There are two types of indoor baths for men and women: warm water and hot water, and they are said to be warming. Prices for use of banquet halls, accommodation rooms, rest rooms, etc. are set in detail, so you can use them according to your preference.

Shijuhachizaka Observation Deck

It was named ``Shijuhachizaka'' because it was said to be a difficult place for transportation in the past and had many winding slopes. Today, with the opening of National Route 45, the road has been improved and it has become the southern gateway to Yamada Town, and the observation deck has become a place for tourists and others to rest during their drive. Because it faces the Pacific Ocean, the observation deck offers a panoramic view of the varied coastline and rounded horizon. It is located along National Route 45, 33 km from Miyako and 20 km from Kamaishi, halfway between the two, and is one of Yamada's eight scenic spots.
