Twelve Gods Nature Observation Education Forest

A virgin forest left in its natural state at the eastern foot of Mt. Junikami in the center of the Shigemo Peninsula. It is a 150 to 300-year-old natural broad-leaved forest that is mainly composed of a colony of Japanese beech and sycamores.It is said to be the most natural forest with a mixture of Japanese oaks, Japanese oaks, and giant Japanese zelkova and horse chestnut trees over 1 meter in diameter. The forest is home to many plants and animals. There is a giant zelkova tree that has been selected as one of the ``Top 100 Forest Giants,'' and it has also been selected as one of the ``Top 100 Forests for Forest Bathing.'' There are minimal camping facilities.

The squid fishing lights flickering in the jet-black sea make it look as if there is a town on the opposite shore. The jewel-like light sparkling in the darkness and the star-filled night sky invite the viewer to a fantastical world. The glittering light is a fishing light, and fishermen are fishing for squid that gather around the light. This fishing, which takes advantage of the tendency of squid to gather around light, is carried out until early morning when the sky turns white. Freshly caught squid is landed at the port and delivered to each household with the taste of freshly caught squid. This fishing fire can be observed from the high ground along the coast from mid-August to late September. Squid fishing season: Mid-August to late September
