Mooncakes are a sweet that originated in China and are said to have been served during celebrations of the Mid-Autumn Harvest Moon. The common style is to wrap strained bean paste, white bean paste, etc. in a skin made of wheat flour, but this mooncake uses buckwheat flour produced in the prefecture for the skin.
