Imadeyama

Mount Imade, towering over the urban area of ​​Ofunato City, is 756 meters above sea level. The view overlooking Ofunato Bay and the city area, as well as the Pacific Ocean and the Karakuwa Peninsula is spectacular. When the azaleas bloom, the area around the mountaintop is dyed bright red, and when you look up from the national highway, it looks as if the mountain is on fire. Once you reach the top of the mountain, you can take a walk through a large colony of blooming azaleas. Choanji Temple

A temple of the Otani sect of Jodo Shinshu Buddhism that was built approximately 900 years ago in the city. It is one of the most famous temples in Tohoku and is a branch temple of Higashi Honganji in Kyoto. The original building was destroyed by fire, and the current one was later rebuilt. Among them, the Sanmon gate is approximately 20 meters high and is made entirely of zelkova, and the Taiko-do hall was built approximately 270 years ago in the style of Momoyama architecture.
