The garden at the Morioka City Central Community Center was started in 1669 during the reign of Shigenobu Nanbu, the fourth lord of the Morioka domain, to cultivate medicinal herbs for use in the castle.
It was called "Oyakuen".
Nowadays, it is crowded with many tourists as a famous spot for autumn leaves.
