The garden in Morioka Central Public Hall was started in 1669 during the reign of Shigenobu Nanbu, the fourth lord of Morioka, for the cultivation of medicinal herbs for use in the castle, and was called "Oyakuen.
Nowadays, it is crowded with many tourists as a famous spot for autumn leaves.

Iwate University Faculty of Agriculture Botanical Garden

More than 90 years have passed since it was established as a botanical garden, and it has formed a green space of tall trees, which is rare in Morioka City. In particular, the ``Yamabe no Matsu'' and ``Metoki Cedar and Hiba'' date back to the time when it was the residence of the chief retainer of the Nanbu domain. Among the many plant species, trees of foreign origin account for a high proportion, with over 800 planted and native species in 137 families and 530 genera growing over an area of approximately 49,500 square meters. Water lilies can be seen at Kitamizu Pond in late June.

Lake Gosho

A dam lake created by damming the Shizukuishi River. There are sports facilities, an aquatic botanical garden, Nanbu Magareya, and other facilities along the lakeside where you can easily enjoy leisure activities. At the foot of Tsunagi Ohashi Bridge stands a statue of ``Zion'' created by Yasutake Funakoshi. In addition, there is a cosmos field along the prefectural road Morioka Uguisuku Line heading from Morioka City to Lake Gosho.The approximately 500 tsubo (500 tsubo) land that was built so that it would be close to the road has orange flowers blooming at sunset, pink and white flowers. A sensation has been planted. A perfect location where you can see Mt. Iwate, the silver-colored Lake Gosho, and Gosho Bridge in the background. Cosmos blooming period: Early August to early October
