    Takamatsu-no-ike Pond is a dike that was built in the 1660s for flood control in Morioka. There were four such levees called "Ueda no Tsutsumi," one of which is now Takamatsu no Ike. It is also a place of recreation and relaxation for citizens in all four seasons, with boating in summer, autumn foliage in fall, and swans in winter.

    Morioka Castle Ruins Park (Iwate Park)

    This is the former site of Morioka Castle, which was the residence of the lords of the Nanbu domain. Morioka Castle was completed in 1633 during the reign of Shigenao, the third lord of the domain. The castle was built on a hillside at the confluence of the former Kitakami River and Nakatsu River. Today, the stonewalls and pond remain, and the area is known as Morioka Castle Ruins Park, which is enjoyed by citizens throughout the four seasons.

    Shiba Castle Ancient Park

    The ancient castle fence at the northernmost tip of Mutsu Province. The appearance of the castle when it was built about 1,200 years ago on the south side of the Shiba Castle ruins has been restored, and the south gate in the center is 15 meters long, 6 meters deep, and 11.1 meters high, making it the second largest gate after the Heijo Palace Suzaku Gate. gate.     Yonai Water Purification Plant

    The city's water purification plant, located in Kamihonai on the outskirts of Morioka City, is also known as a cherry blossom viewing spot, and during this season, the grounds are specially opened to the public. About 30 Yaeveni weeping cherry trees are designated as city-designated preserved trees, and the sight of them in full bloom is truly spectacular, as if to show the dignity of the queen of cherry trees. The red brick building of the water purification plant also adds to the beauty of the cherry blossoms.
