Kitadate cherry blossoms

The Edohigan cherry tree is said to have been planted by a pilgrim monk named Nansobou around 1300 at the place where the Abe family lived and met in Kitadate.Estimated to be 700 years old, root circumference 7m20cm, tree height 19m, a natural tree in Oshu City. Ungiwaji Temple

Ungiwaji Temple was a branch of a mountain temple that was the predecessor of the Tendai Sect's Sekizan Chusonji Temple, founded by Jikaku Daishi Ennin in 850. In 1186, when Minamoto no Yoshitsune came down to Hiraizumi, Oshu, with his 12 masters, servants, and legal wife Kitakata, this temple was rebuilt by Kitakata. After the defeat, the memorial tablets of Yoshitsune and Kitakata were enshrined by the monks who attended the temple. Destroyed by fire in 2008. The building has been rebuilt, but a replica of the memorial tablet is on display at the History Museum.

Tsukiean

A free rest facility located in front of the gate of Shoboji Temple in the back. In addition to souvenir items, there is also a soba restaurant and cafe. From Mizusawa-Esashi Station, transfer to the Iwate Prefectural Transportation Haneda Ofunato Line Mizusawa Ekidori bus stop and head to the Shohoji bus stop.
