Ayarizaki

Cape Ayari boasts the beauty of rugged cliffs. The sight of the white waves crashing against the reef is very impressive. There is also a lighthouse at the tip of the cape that watches over the safety of navigation, and its appearance is also very atmospheric. There is a promenade leading to the tip of the cape, making it perfect for a leisurely hike.

Usukiyama

Usukiyama is a city-owned forest located behind Jodogahama beach and adjacent to the Prefectural Fisheries Science Museum. Overlooking Miyako Port, the flowers of kobushi (Japanese bellflower) bloom in early spring, and katakuris (dogtooth violet) bloom in clusters in mid-April. From late April to mid-May, various types of cherry trees are in full bloom. Since 1994, many varieties of cherry trees have been planted to make the area a national-class cherry blossom viewing spot, and there are now 800 cherry trees of 100 varieties.

Kenji Miyazawa poem monument (Jodogahama)

In July 1919, he joined the Hanamaki Town east coast observation team and visited Kamiya and Jodogahama on the Sanriku Kisen, where he wrote a poem, ``The velvet kelp of the Uruhashi sea is spread out in the darkness of the light.'' Built in October 1996 in front of Jodogahama Rest House to commemorate Kenji's 100th birthday.

Great East Japan Earthquake Tsunami Memorial Museum Iwate TSUNAMI Memorial

It opened on September 22, 2019. The purpose of this facility is to convey the facts and lessons learned from the tsunami to future generations, and to disseminate the state of recovery both domestically and internationally, in order to prevent a repeat of the tragedy of the Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami.

Ranboudani

White waves crash violently in the valley of the sea facing a sheer cliff of several tens of meters. As the name suggests, you can see the wild and magnificent scenery below. There is an observation deck on the cliff on the left.

Goyoyama

A mountain with an altitude of 1,351m and semi-plain terrain. It is the highest mountain in the prefecture that is closest to the sea, and the view from the top is great, allowing you to see the entire Sanriku sea. The azaleas are beautiful in the spring and the rhododendrons in the summer, and there is a virgin forest of Japanese cypress trees near the mountaintop, and it has been designated as a prefectural natural park, home to Japanese macaques and the northernmost Japanese deer. It takes about 2 hours to reach the summit from Akasaka Pass, the most popular trailhead. [Mountain opening] April 29th every year

Koishihama Scallop Deck

Koishihama Scallop Deck opened in the summer of 2015. We will also be selling Koishihama souvenirs and Santetsu goods, as well as scallop farming tours. If you make a reservation, you can enjoy a barbecue on the grill on the deck.This is a new tourist spot with an outstanding view.

Nehama coast

This is a coastline that forms an arc at the mouth of the Unosumai River. The white sand and pine forest that stretches approximately 2km from north to south was greatly affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake, but the beauty of the shallow, quiet sea remains unchanged.
