Shinappi Onsen is full of the warmth and atmosphere of wood and tatami mats. It is close to Appi Highlands and the city, so please use this as your base for visiting various tourist attractions. The quality of the hot spring water is so high that it is recommended by medical doctors as a natural medicinal hot spring with outstanding efficacy. Salt springs are known to be good for keeping you warm, but Shin-Appi Onsen is the only hot spring in Iwate Prefecture that has a concentration more than twice that of seawater. It is one of the best salt springs in Japan. The hot spring baths are all interesting, with bubble baths, cold baths, cascading hot springs, open-air baths, and saunas.
