Beniko Fukazawa Wildflower Museum

A warehouse-style building along the Nakatsugawa River, downstream of the upper bridge. Oil paintings and watercolor paintings of wildflowers by Beniko Fukazawa, a painter from Morioka City, are on display, changing with the seasons.

Morioka Tenmangu Shrine

The guardian dog of Morioka Tenmangu Shrine, which used to be part of Takuboku's walking course, is now enshrined on top of Takuboku's monument. It is said that this guardian dog appears in the novel ``Funeral Procession,'' and it has a face that says, ``Since I was born, I still don't know whether the world is in the west or the east.'' Takuboku said.

Yonai Water Purification Plant

The city's water purification plant, located in Kamiumai, on the outskirts of Morioka City, is also known as a famous spot for cherry blossom viewing, and the grounds are specially opened to the public during this season. Approximately 30 Japanese weeping cherry trees are carefully protected as city-designated preserved trees, and the sight of them in full bloom is truly spectacular, as if displaying the dignity of the queen of cherry blossoms.
