It is a nickname for the stretch of National Route 397 from the Isawa Dam/Tsunuma area to the Akita Prefecture border, and the word "beach" in English means beech.
This driving course is surrounded by a vast expanse of primeval beech forest, and is especially popular during the seasons of fresh greenery and autumn leaves.
