“The Forest is the Lover of the Sea” Tree Planting Festival

The Forest is Sea Lover Tree Planting Festival has been held since 1989. Currently, the tree-planting venue has been moved from Mt. Murone to Mt. Yagoshi, and tree-planting activities are being sponsored by the NPO Mori wa Umi no Koibito and the local 12th Ward Neighborhood Association. Every year, thousands of people from all over the country plant broad-leaved trees in hopes of a rich forest and ocean. In addition, at the foot of the venue, a water wheel called ``Kottonko'' has been restored, and a farm-to-table market called ``Kottonko Market'' will be held in conjunction with the tree-planting festival.
