Matsuo Hachimantai Visitor Center/Product Center Aspite

Matsuo Hachimantai Visitor Center is a hub for disseminating information about the nature and ecosystem of Hachimantai and Mt. Iwate. Models of the Hachimantai/Iwateyama area, specimens of insects living in the Hachimantai area, an alpine plant corner, a computer corner, and high-definition videos are introduced. In addition, the adjacent product hall has a direct-from-the-farm facility that collects local vegetables and processed products, a restaurant that serves locally produced soba, guinea fowl, and river fish dishes, and an experience facility where you can try your hand at making soba. Hachimantai City Matsuo Mine Museum

It was built in 1981 as the "Matsuo History and Folklore Museum" to preserve and display materials in various fields such as archeology and folklore from the former Matsuo Village area, but from April 2014 it has been renovated as the "paradise above the clouds". This facility specializes in preserving and exhibiting materials from the Matsuo Mine, which was said to have the highest sulfur production in the East and was closed in 1964.

Matsukawa Geothermal Power Plant Matsukawa Geothermal Museum

It was the first geothermal power plant to begin operation in Japan in 1966, and is the fourth geothermal power plant in the world. The steam rising from the huge 46m high cooling tower is astounding. The Geothermal Museum is a PR facility, with videos and panels showing how geothermal power generation works.
