A small hot spring on the border of Iwate and Akita prefectures on National Route 107. Not only is transportation convenient, but the view is also exceptional. The landmark is a doll called ``Kashima-sama'' that wards off evil spirits. There are 4 inns with a rustic atmosphere and 2 day trip bath facilities.

Yukawa Onsen

Located 4km south of Hottoyuda Station, there are Dezu-no-yu, Naka-no-yu, and Oku-no-yu, and many inns along the Koogase River, a tributary of the Waga River. It has been popular as a hot spring resort since ancient times, and many visitors come all the way from Akita. About 3km from Oku-no-Yu is the floating island of Yukawa-numa, which is designated as a natural monument by the prefecture.

Yumoto Onsen

The oldest hot spring town in Yuda Onsenkyo, known as the place where Masaoka Shiki stayed. It is a bitter sodium sulfate spring that gushes out on the left bank of the Waga River, 4km north of Hottoyuda Station. The word ``Yuda'' comes from the expression ``a place where hot water gushes out from inside the rice fields,'' which was used in the Kanbun era (around 1661-1673), and this refers to the current Yumoto Onsen.
