Kagura (Tono City)

Gyozan-ryu Spring Deer Dance (city-designated intangible folk cultural property)

In Miyagi Prefecture, the dance is also called "Yatsuka Odori (dance of the eight deer)," because it is based on a group of eight deer. There are various traditions about its origin and propagation routes, and it is divided into the Gyozan, Kanazu, and Kasuga styles. In Yushimizu, the Gyozan style is referred to as the Gyozan style, which follows the Kuda Shika Odori of the Esashi district of Oshu City. According to tradition, Shika Odori was first performed in the Shiraishi and Yushimizu areas in 1866 (Keio 2). Performances are given at festivals of Komagata Shrine and other nearby shrines, entertainment events, and other events as requested.

Jokenji Temple

An old temple of the Soto sect, founded in 1490. The stream that flows behind the shrine grounds is called ``Kappabuchi,'' and there are stories that many kappa lived there and played pranks on people.

Taro Kappa

Whenever I approached this shore to do laundry or work in the water, I would see a kappa of my color preference peeking out of the water and peering around my waist.
