Nanbu Shizome has been known as Iwatene Murasaki since the Kamakura period, and was protected and encouraged after the reign of Morioka Harujo by Lord Nobunao Nambu. It was dyed using high-quality, abundant purple grass roots that grow naturally in the mountains, a unique dyeing technique, and simple squeezing in large, small, and standing tubs, and it came to be called Nanbu Murasaki.

Morioka City Zoological Park ZOOMO

Reopening on Thursday, April 20, 2020! The park was opened in 1989 on the southern slope of a rocky mountain. The park has been designed to take advantage of the natural topography and vegetation as much as possible, allowing visitors to observe flora and fauna while interacting with nature. In addition to animal breeding exhibits, there are corners where you can touch the animals and various events are held on weekends.

Morioka Highland Country Club

A unique course with 3 courses and 27 holes located in the gentle hills near Morioka city. From the course, you can see Mt. Iwate, Morioka city, and the countryside.
